Walk-a-Thon |
Essex Fells Walk-A-ThonOn May 10, 2008, the first- and second-grade children of The Essex Fells School in Essex Fells walked for Alex’s Superhero Fund and raised several thousand dollars! Alex’s mom was asked to give a presentation to the entire grammar school regarding Alex’s life, his foundation and the role of charitable organizations in the lives of local children that are struggling with cancer or terminal illness. These children were extremely bright, interested and compassionate. Some of the first grade children even took it upon themselves to create a lemonade stand to raise money for ASF in addition to walking in their school sponsored walkathon! |

Arts & Crafts Drive |
On behalf of Alex's Superhero Fund, Inc., the Parent-Teacher Organization of Greenville Elementary School in Howell, NJ ran an Arts & Crafts Drive. These items were then given to the children at the Tomorrow's Children Institute at Hackensack University Hospital. This is where Alex spent much of his time undergoing his cancer treatment. It is a facility that consists of an amazing group of people who strive to make life as fun and "normal" as possible for children who are fighting this disease. The children, families and faculty at Greenville Elementary School were thrilled to take part in such a rewarding cause, and it was a great success! |

Chesterbrook Walk-A-ThonOn November 9, 2007, Chesterbrook Academy in Manalapan, New Jersey held a walk-a-thon for the benefit of Alex’s Superhero Fund. The Chesterbrook students participated in a walk-a-thon in conjunction with their “Character Counts” week. The children had a wonderful fundraiser that yielded several thousand dollars for Alex’s Superhero Fund. They each received a commemorative T-shirt for their efforts. Alex’s mom had an opportunity to address the entire student body and tell Alex’s story to the children. A representative from Tomorrow’s Children Institute also explained what occurs at their pediatric cancer clinic. We are extremely proud of the Chesterbrook Academy students. This walk-a-thon will always remain a special event in our hearts, as this was Alex’s Superhero Fund’s first official fundraiser. What could be more special than children helping other children? |
